Getting ready for their hello visit

A hello visit is short, relaxed and mostly about getting to know each other. Here’s how to make it a good one.

Keep the morning calm

A short walk for dogs and a quiet start for cats helps them arrive curious rather than wound up. Try not to rush. A few spare minutes before you leave home make the hello easier for everyone.

Bring the basics

Their lead and harness, or their carrier for cats, plus any treats they love. If they have a favorite blanket, bring it. A familiar smell helps a new room feel less new.

Tell us the little things

How they react to new people, whether they like being picked up, what they do when they’ve had enough. These details matter more than anything else on the day, so share them even if they feel small.

Let them explore

We’ll let your pet sniff, wander and come to us in their own time. Dogs often head straight for the toys. Cats usually find the highest shelf. Both are completely normal.

What happens next

Afterwards we’ll tell you how it went and talk about what might suit them next: a drop-in day, regular days or a quiet care plan. There’s no pressure to decide on the spot.

Your next conversation

Tell us about your dog or cat and the days you have in mind, or call us on (202) 555-0111. Every pet starts with a hello visit, and we’ll plan their days with you.

Your checklist

  • Lead and harness, or their carrier
  • A favorite treat or two
  • Their blanket, if they have one
  • How they react to new people
